Frequently asked questions
Quick answers about SrcNexus, the Android code editor with built-in website publishing. For step-by-step help, see the publishing guide or the documentation.
Last checked:
Is SrcNexus free?
Yes. SrcNexus is free to download and use from Google Play, including publishing your projects. The app shows ads.
Can I host a website with SrcNexus?
Yes. Open a project, tap the ⋮ menu and choose Publish. The site goes live at https://your-username.srcnexus.app/your-project-name. Hosting serves static files: HTML, CSS, JavaScript, images, fonts and the build output of tools such as Vite.
Do I need an account to publish?
Yes. Writing and previewing code works without an account, but publishing needs a free SrcNexus account. Verify your email to publish more than one project.
Does SrcNexus work offline?
Your projects are files on your phone, so you can open, edit and save them without a connection. Publishing, signing in and the extension store need the internet, and so does installing packages in the terminal.
Which languages can I run in the terminal?
The SrcNexus terminal connects to Termux, so it runs what Termux can install. Python and Node.js (with npm) are covered in the SrcNexus docs; other languages work if Termux has a package for them. Setup is one-time: install Termux from F-Droid or GitHub, run the SrcNexus install script, start the terminal server with the term command, and paste its key into the app.
Does SrcNexus support Git?
There is no built-in Git panel. Install git in Termux and run git commands (clone, commit, push, pull) in the SrcNexus terminal. Publishing respects your .gitignore, so ignored files are never uploaded.
Can I publish a React or Vite app?
Yes. Run npm run build in the terminal, remove dist from .gitignore, set the serve directory to dist (⋮ menu > Serve Directory), and add the rule /* /index.html 200 to redirects.txt so client-side routes work. Then publish.
How do redirects work on a published site?
Create redirects.txt in the project root with one rule per line, for example /old /new 301 for a redirect or /* /index.html 200 for a single-page app. Rules are checked top to bottom and the first match wins. A rule only applies when no real file exists at that path, unless it ends in ! (for example /old /new 301!), which forces it even when the file exists.
Can I see who visits my published site?
Yes. The app shows visits and unique visitors over time, top pages, countries, cities, device types and bot traffic, per project or across all your projects.
Are there size limits when publishing?
Each file must be under 10 MB, and one publish can upload up to 5,000 files. Files in .gitignore and dependency folders such as node_modules are skipped.
Will my published link ever change?
Only if you rename your username or the project. The link follows the new name and the old link stops working.
Is SrcNexus available on iPhone?
